| Andrew and Peri have over sixty years of experience in the fields of health and healing, environmental stewardship, spirituality, and leadership development combined. Having spent many years working separately and in many countries around the world, it is a gift to find ourselves living in a place where people can now come to us and anchor their own healing and learning experiences from this home.
As life would have it the very first thing I did before school started was to go on a ten day wilderness trip as part of a freshman orientation. By the end of this trip I had established a strong bond with a group of people several of whom would remain life-long friends. This group became the outdoor club at my college and we began climbing, rafting, kayaking, and generally just plain adventuring in any way we could find. Little did I know this would become my real profession. During my first year in college I went to work at a Rehabilitation unit in a large hospital in Seattle and that is when everything began to change. I was more interested in health and life than death and disease. I wanted to know what made things move and how they knew to mutate and change, not just that they did. At this time I also discovered my love of mountaineering and climbing. By the time I was nineteen the only thing that seems to quiet my restless heart was the wilderness and by good fortune I got invited to Colorado first to participate in and then to lead a month long wilderness program. Such was my aptitude for this environment that within a short period of time I got asked to work for Colorado Outward Bound. And the rest of the story unfolds from there. I went on to organize my first expedition to Alaska at the age of twenty into an unchartered range of mountains called the Neacolas. By the sheer Grace of life itself, the four of us managed to survive our six-week adventure, and when the final day dawned blue sky and absolutely still all I could do was cry. I had never felt so deeply at home and at peace in my life. Assisted by the fact that I did abysmally on my medical entrance exams, I graduated from school and leapt headlong into my work with in the wilderness~~And thirty years later I am still working with this calling. It has taken me all over the world to start new organizations, create multicultural exchange programs, spend fourteen years in a spiritual community, get my PhD, and teach leadership at the graduate level. I have worked with wide variety of organizations and causes. Yet, the thread of understanding, love, and perception has always remained rooted in the same awareness. All is interconnected, all is living, and there is no way to remove oneself from this fact of life. What does it really mean to live with this perception through and through? It means I live with both feet on the ground; an ear constantly cocked towards that which is not completely visible but always coming; and a deep reverence for the small piece of the Whole that is mine to steward. Most importantly, however, I live with the experience of always being carried by something larger than myself, by the wings of Grace itself. This is the primary gift I have to share with others.
Andrew trained in the Attunement process while living with his mentor for twenty-one years in a spiritual community. It was here that his life changed and he realized that all healing was spiritual healing. Unless this dimension is acknowledged and included in the process of healing, the core of all conditions is not being accessed. He has dedicated his life and, therefore, his lifestyle to living from this core of stillness and wisdom. It is this place of inner connection and balance that he seeks to instill through all the classes, workshops, and seminars that he offers. He also does Long Distance Attunement work with individuals around the world and was selected as a healer by a team of medical doctors at the California Pacific Medical Center to study the effects of distance healing on patients with brain tumors. Trained in Tai Chi and Chi Kung for over twenty years, he uses this art form to develop and expand his own awareness of how energy flows in the body. This daily practice not only serves as an aspect of his personal spiritual discipline, it also maintains a deep sense of rootedness, which is essential for his healing work with others. He also is a Tai Chi teacher. |
